I'm really excited that my work is featured in Charlotte Rivers' new book,
I ♥ Stationery (published by Jacqui Small on 17th February 2012).

Despite digital technology dominating the way we communicate and record information, the stationery industry today is thriving, and is home to some of our most interesting examples of illustration and design. Join book artist Anna Fewster to learn the traditional method of floating watercolour paints on carageenan to make exquisite marbled papers. Taking inspiration from marbled designs at Charleston you will experiment with pattern and colour to create your own intricate and unique designs. At the end of the day you will have a selection of papers to take home ready for use in bookbinding, collage and card making.

Othello - A Bestiary (With Floral Additions)

Lately I've been busy with Borbonesa, working on Othello - A Bestiary (With Floral Additions). Tomorrow is the first of two parties to launch the concertina bookwork, which is a wordless reworking of William Shakespeare's Othello as an illustrated collection of common, rare and fabulous animals.

I contributed a foreword to the bookwork, which is illustrated by Ian Whitmore.

I'm really pleased to announce that Robert Stillman's 'Machine's Song', is now available through One Inch Badge Records. The official release date is the 13th of June, but the first 35 pre-orders made from today will receive the CD packaged in the limited edition letterpress printed poster, which I designed and printed in collaboration with Alan Brignull.

Halo of Dust

I'm really happy to announce the publication of 'Halo of Dust', a poem by Teddy Macker,
at Lampyridae Press.

Set by hand in 12pt and 36pt Baskerville metal type, the text is illustrated with my own linoleum cuts and letterpress printed on Zerkall mould-made paper using my Adana "Eight-Five" press.
Each copy is sewn into wrappers that I have marbled by hand.

BLOOMSBURY ADAPTATIONS

This Thursday and Friday (5th and 6th May) I'll be exhibiting some new pieces in Bath at Bloomsbury Adaptations, an interdisciplinary conference exploring the ways that 20th and 21st century art has been influenced by the work of the Bloomsbury Group.

In addition to presenting my letterpress work, I'll be giving a presentation about my research at Charleston - on the books designed, illustrated, printed, and bound by the Bloomsbury group at the Hogarth Press and the Omega Workshops - and the ways in which this research has influenced my creative practice.

This invitation suite includes a letterpress printed linoleum cut floral design, printed in two shades of pink with a green layer, and a linoleum cut geometric design printed in green with a hand painted pale green watercolour background.

The text was set by hand in 36pt and 12pt Baskerville metal type, and printed in black on 425gsm Bockingford paper. The envelopes were lined in matching pink acid-free tissue paper.

Robert Stillman, New Works handbill

This weekend I printed a handbill to advertise and celebrate two upcoming performances in
New York by composer and multi-instrumentalist Robert Stillman.

The text was set by hand in 48pt Franklin Gothic Extra Condensed, 12pt Gill Sans Bold,
and 10pt Gill Sans light, and the design of intersecting lines - printed in silver ink - was composed of lead rules. It is printed on 185gsm Saunders Waterford paper.

The first 10 people to arrive at each show will receive one of these limited edition handbills
as a free giveaway!

I'm very happy to announce that Persephone Books are now stocking my
Bloomsbury bookplates in their shop on Lamb's Conduit Street, London.

When I was doing research at Charleston for my doctorate, I discovered a large number of bookplates amongst the bookshelves that members of Bloomsbury had designed and made for themselves and for each other. Each of them was so decorative and beautiful, inspiring a delight in the material qualities of the book, that I decided I wanted to make my own.

The resulting design draws inspiration from these Bloomsbury bookplate designs, as well as the domestic decorations at Charleston, and I think that they complement the beautiful publications of Persephone Books, with their gorgeous endpapers, rather nicely.

Hiss Golden Messenger commissioned me to make a tri-folded lyric tract with six panels for a limited edition vinyl release of Bad Debt. The text was set by hand in metal type and the cover image is a linoleum cut. Printed on 300gsm Bockingford paper in an edition of 100.
